Like the moon, come out from behind the clouds and Shine!
Buddha
When I was first learning how to swim, I did not trust the waters where my feet could not touch. No matter how many times people told me I would be “OK” I would panic and flap about until I got exhausted. And then I would just float.
Only until I reached the exhaustion state did I come to realize that this is the struggle we all play within ourselves. When we enter any situation over our head, our reflexes tell us to fight back with all our energy and might to rid ourselves of the terrible feeling that we are sinking under and cannot save ourselves. We are searching desperately for that life raft.
Unfortunately, the more we resist, the more our own selves bring us down and wear us out.
These are the times when we must learn to float. It is in letting go of the trying to control and letting the Universe step in that we can finally let go of the panic. It is finding the faith that we lost – faith in ourselves. We need to relax enough of ourselves to find our-self.
Sometimes, this is extremely difficult to do. We are so laden with fears that we forget that in trusting ourselves, we will not sink, if we just let go of the fear. No matter how much we visualize the process or think/know we can do it, the only way we find out is to just let go and let God/Universe take over for us at those moments.
Once we do that, things slow down, things that seemed like insurmountable problems have a way of being solved. Perhaps our faith is in the taking of the risk that all will be well if we can just let go for the moment and let the forces that be take charge. Most of us need to go through the sinking feeling before we trust what the Universe is all about and how it helps us.
